HOLIDAY FOOD
It’s that time of the year again already! We are again providing gift certificates to needy families for Thanksgiving and Christmas dinner. The families have already been selected. As in years past they are the families whose children are enrolled in Project Head Start program. All of these families fall well below the poverty level and we help not only the child enrolled in the program, but the siblings as well. If anyone is interested in donating to this program, please send your check to Helping Hands, 1301 Brinson Lane, Midland, TX 79703 or you can donate online through our website, helpinghandsmidland.com.
DRESS-AN-ANGEL
This year the Women’s Organization from St. Stephen’s Catholic Church has assumed responsibility for providing clothing and at least one gift to the 265 children who are enrolled in our Dress-An-Angel program. They are already hard at work recruiting sponsors for these children.
TOY DRIVE
St. Ann’s Catholic Church is again holding their toy drive to provide the gifts for our kids. And the youth group from that church will be on hand to distribute the toys on the day of the giveaway. Anyone who is interested in donating toys for this drive is welcome to bring them by Helping Hands or leave them in our truck parked outside St. Stephen’s, 4601 Neely Ave.
HOLIDAY CLOSING
Helping Hands will be closed from Thursday, December 24 through New Year’s Day, Friday, January 1. This will give our volunteers time to clean up the store, restock, and take some needed time off. During that time we will pull our trucks from the parking lot of St. Stephen’s in order to do some much needed maintenance on them, so donations will need to be brought to our location at 1301 Brinson Lane between 8 am and 1 pm Monday through Saturday (excluding Christmas and New Year’s Days). The trucks will return to the parking lot at St. Stephen’s on Saturday, January 2.
Our helpline will remain up and running through the holidays and we will continue to meet with those in need.
